How to Save Money During the Easter Season

As with many holidays and festivities, Easter can become expensive. With a lot of celebrations to be had, it can mean increased spending. School breaks, childcare requirements, vacation expenses, gifts, festive meals, decorations, and hampers can all build up meaning you’ve got a lot of costs. On top of that, there are often specific Easter food items that everyone wants such as eggs and chocolate, which are also more expensive due to the seasonal demand. Eggs in particular, have risen dramatically in recent years. Eggs typically cost $2.99 for a dozen right now, but this is almost double the cost in 2021 ($1.46), this alone has caused Easter expenses to skyrocket. So, what can you do about it?

Smart Ways to Save Money During Easter

Luckily, while Easter can be expensive, there are ways to mitigate costs so that everyone can still have a good time. For instance, instead of buying premade hampers and purchasing pricey gifts, you can opt for making your own. First, you can make your own food items as gifts such as homemade cakes, or other treats. And, you could opt for making your own hampers. Shop around to get the best items to add to your hamper rather than accepting what’s in the basket already.

When it comes to the main Easter meal, instead of splashing out on the most expensive items, shop around. Take a look at some of the more budget-friendly options that are there. Sometimes vegetarian dishes are a better option in terms of savings, as lamb and beef can be expensive. This all comes under making smart shopping habits: this means comparing prices across stores rather than just jumping on the first item you see. Look for sales too, while avoiding shopping at the last minute where cheaper items will be out of stock and only the expensive items remain.

Shopping Tips: Buying in Advance & Using Online Discounts

If we continue thinking about shopping, then there are some things you should really be thinking about. Planning ahead is key during this time. As Easter is notorious for having a lot of bad food, chocolate and cakes, it’s a good idea to buy healthier options. If you’re shopping in advance, consider the nonperishable items that will last until the Easter vacation rolls around. And, get your hands on some of the Easter essentials before prices jump in the weeks before.

When making such shopping choices, shopping online can be a great help. This is because online promotions are far more accessible. Additionally, online shopping makes it much easier to compare the costs of products within a store. And, of course, there is the option to use discount codes or coupons when you shop.

It’s incredibly easy to find discount codes for your groceries online, you just need to check websites such as Discoup.com US, which collects and lists all manner of discount codes and coupons for a wide array of grocery stores and other retailers. They’re all clearly listed and categorized, so you can search for codes by store very easily. It’s a great way to find a good deal or two and reduce the cost surrounding your Easter shopping. These codes are checked carefully too, so they will work on the store they’re supposed to. Better still, you can save time searching for them, making use of the collection on Discoup instead.

    Additional Cost-Saving Tips

You can continue to save during Easter each year. For example, make sure you save and box up your Easter decorations. These can be used the following year, saving the cost of purchasing new ones. Or, you can make homemade decorations instead. This can double up as a kid-friendly activity, and be more eco-friendly as you use natural materials or upcycled household items.

Rather than purchasing fancy (and expensive) Easter baskets to display eggs, chocolate, or gifts in, repurpose existing bags, or make a DIY version. You should also look at low-cost options when it comes to school break expenses. Find community events, nature outings, or go for those DIY-themed craft options.

Make smart shopping choices this Easter to save money while also having a good time. You don’t need to compromise on quality if you check out money-saving strategies and make good use of discount coupons when shopping online.
