I attended an advanced screening for my review.  All opinions are my own.

Argylle Film Review~ See It Now in Theaters! #ArgylleMovie

“The greater the spy, the bigger the lie.

From the twisted mind of Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman franchise, Kick-Ass) comes Argylle, a razor-witted, reality-bending, globe-encircling spy thriller.

Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise) is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.

Accompanied by Aiden (Oscar® winner Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.

The top-flight ensemble cast features Henry Cavill (The Witcher), John Cena (Fast X), Oscar® winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Grammy winning pop superstar Dua Lipa (Barbie), Emmy winner and Oscar® nominee Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Emmy winner and comedy icon Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and the legendary Samuel L. Jackson. Alfie is played by Chip, the real-life cat of supermodel Claudia Vaughn (née Schiffer).”

I really like spy, action films.  I was very curious about Argylle after seeing the trailers.  Overall, I really enjoyed watching Argylle.

I thought Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell were fantastic in their roles as Elly Conway and Aiden.  They both did fabulous in their action scenes.  I did wish that they had stronger chemistry together.  I loved seeing Catherine O’Hara in the film. I thought she was perfectly cast as Elly’s mom.

I really enjoyed the storyline.  There was a lot of humor mixed in with all the action scenes.  There were a lot of great plot twists in the film, several of them surprised me.  I did feel like the movie was a little too long.  In addition, I thought that some of the action scenes were a little over the top and were not necessary. Be sure to stay through part of the credits for an extra scene.

This movie is rated PG-13 “for strong violence and action and some strong language.”  This movie was violent but was appropriate for a PG-13 film.  It does say the ‘f-word’ once.  I would say that this film is appropriate for ages 13 and up but I do not necessarily think they are the correct audience for the film.  The storyline is a little complex for that age, and they may not understand it.  This movie would probably be better for older teens and adults.

So overall, I enjoyed watching Argylle and I can recommend it.

    Argylle gets bragging rights!
